How are we already at February?! Wow. Somehow January flew by in a flash and here we are. In Vancouver we’ve already enjoyed a couple of days that feel just-a-little-bit like Spring. I’m dreaming anyway. This month we’re rounding up favourites for the month of love alongside a few picks that hint at the coming of Spring.

THE JULY EDIT: FAVOURITE PICKS OF THE MONTH

July marks the beginning of summer break here in Canada and with the heat wave that we’ve experienced over the past week, that means summer is officially in full swing! We love making the most of the summer sunshine that we get here in Vancouver and this month’s edit is all about our favourite picks for the outdoors and summertime!

At home, we love playing in our backyard after dinner and this bocce ball set is a favourite after dinner family game! We just hung this wooden kids swing on our front cedar tree and the kids wake up and go straight out to swing on it. Our kids’ (yes, all 3!) first bikes were these wishbone bikes and I love that they can start on three wheels and then convert to two. They are truly the perfect first bike!

We hope you’ve found something to inspire you in our July shopping guide! For more Winter Daisy favourites, see our May picks and our blog post about 8 summer books to inspire a love of nature!

WINTER DAISY PICKS: 12 LAMPS FOR KIDS' ROOMS!

When it comes to lighting in a kids room, table and task lamps are one of the most functional solutions. Of course it doesn’t eliminate the need for a ceiling light, or a night light, or even a wall sconce in some spaces, but a table lamp can be useful for giving off the perfect glow on a side table or dresser. We’ve rounded up some of our favourites below; many you’ve seen used in rooms we’ve already shared and a few in rooms to come!

SHOP THE LOOK…

When thinking about lamps for kids rooms, consider the direction of light. You wouldn’t want a bright light shining straight into your child’s face, so think of lighting that directs downwards (like the one above) or is filtered with a shade (like the one below).

A larger more substantial lamp can be used in a kids room, playroom or even a living room if you are looking for lighting that will last you through the years. While I always suggest using wood or metal lamps on side tables in kids’ spaces (to avoid breakage), a ceramic lamp on a dresser seems to stay intact if it is solid enough not to be tipped over.
